Benita Heyden Dies in Lake Elsinore Multi-Vehicle Crash on Railroad Canyon Road
Lake Elsinore, California (January 27, 2020) – Police officers have identified one of the women killed in multi-vehicle crash on Friday night in Lake Elsinore, as Benita Heyden, 57, of Lake Elsinore, police said.
The deadly crash was reported at around 10:04 p.m. January 24, on Railroad Canyon Road near Newport Road.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said Heyden, together with her sister and mother, were returning home from a weekly bingo game when vehicles collided.
According to the report, a vehicle on Railroad Canyon Road rear-ended another. One of the cars then crossed over the center divider and crashed into a vehicle that was carrying Heyden, her sister, and mother.
Heyden was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Her sister succumbed to her injuries at the hospital while their mother was hospitalized in critical condition.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
