Arturo Melendez Dies after Being Struck by Vehicle at El Casco Street and Glenoaks Boulevard in Sylmar
Volunteer Killed in Sylmar Pedestrian Accident at El Casco Street and Glenoaks Boulevard Identified as Arturo Melendez
Sylmar, California (April 20, 2020) – Arturo Melendez, 58, of San Fernando, has been identified as the volunteer who died after being struck by a vehicle at a coronavirus food drive in Sylmar Friday morning.
Melendez was in a parking lot at the intersection of El Casco Street and Glenoaks Boulevard at around 7:45 a.m. Friday, April 17, when a vehicle hit him. He then became pinned between two cars.
Melendez was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
