Amber Calonder Injured in Yuba-Sutter Head-On Crash on Highway 99 near Knights Road

Yuba-Sutter, California (February 22, 2020) – Amber Calonder, 18, of Knights Landing, was injured Friday evening in a traffic accident that also left a 67-year-old Yuba City man dead in the Yuba-Sutter area.

The deadly accident took place shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Highway 99, just south of Knights Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Yuba City man was driving northbound on Highway 99 at about 60 mph when he went into the southbound lanes to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with a car that was heading southbound, driven by Calonder.

The Yuba City man was taken to a hospital, where he was later declared deceased. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Calonder suffered moderate injuries as a result of the crash.

Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
