6 Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 17 in Los Gatos
Six Injured in Los Gatos Car Accident on Highway 17 near Highway 85; Alex Waddle Arrested
Los Gatos, California (February 23, 2020) – Six people were injured Thursday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Los Gatos, Santa Clara, officials said.
The wreck took place at around 1:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20 on Highway 17 near Highway 85.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Alex Waddle, 33, of Capitola, was driving a 1995 Jeep Wrangler southbound in the northbound lane when his Jeep collided head-on with a 2017 Acura.
As a result of the collision, the Jeep rolled over and burst into flames. A motorcyclist reportedly crashed into the debris from the crash.
Waddle suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The motorcyclist was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Four occupants of the Acura were treated for minor injuries.
Waddle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The accident remains under investigation.
