Coroner Identify Woman Killed in Norwalk Car Accident on San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue as Alyssa Contreras

Norwalk, California (February 5, 2020) – Alyssa Alexus Contreras, 24, of La Puente, has been identified as the woman who died in a three-car accident that happened early Wednesday morning on 605 Freeway in Norwalk.

The fatal accident took place at around 3:45 a.m. in the southbound lane of San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, just south of Rosecrans Avenue.

Authorities said three vehicles collided in the southbound lane of the freeway. Due to the impact, one of the vehicles drifted across the traffic lanes and slammed into the center median before it flipped over in the No. 1 lane of the highway.

Contreras was killed in the crash.

A SigAlert was issued at around 4:05 a.m. for the closure of all lanes of the southbound 605 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue.  All lanes were reopened at about 8:30 a.m.

The accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
