88-Year-Old Woman Killed in Big Rig Crash on U.S. 395 in Inyo County
Woman Killed, Robert Frost ID’d as Driver Hurt in Fatal Inyo County Accident on U.S. 395 and Gill Station Coso Road
Inyo County, California (February 14, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a car accident involving a semi-truck that left an elderly woman, only identified as 88-Year-Old from Arizona, dead on Thursday afternoon in Inyo County.
The crash happened on U.S. 395 near the Coso Road Rest Area, at about 2:00 p.m., on February 13.
The CHP said a 2016 Nissan Versa, driven by Robert Frost, 78, of Green Valley, Arizona, was heading westbound on Gill Station Coso Road. At the same time, John Stiegler, 37, of Ridgecrest, was traveling northbound on U.S. 395, in a 2014 International semi at a speed of about 55 mph.
Frost failed to yield as he entered the junction and his car was struck on the side by Stiegler. The Nissan rolled into the center divider of the U.S. 395 due to the impact.
The 88-year-old woman, a passenger in the Nissan, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Frost sustained injuries and was flown to a hospital in Bakersfield.
Stiegler was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
