Grass Valley Woman Dies in Auburn Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 49 near Joeger Road

Auburn, California (December 8, 2019) – A 55-year-old Grass Valley Woman was killed in a vehicle accident on Frida evening in Auburn, as per a police report.

The collision occurred on Friday evening, December 6, on Highway 49 near Joeger Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 1996 black Toyota Lexus at a high rate of speed when her rear tire rim began emitting sparks. The Lexus approached Joeger Road, swerved into the northbound lanes and struck a Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 39-year-old driver.

The impact of the collision caused the Lexus to rotate clockwise and hit a Toyota 4Runner driven by Michelle Tompkins, 31, of Grass Valley.

The 55-year-old woman was killed in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Tompkins was not injured.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
