2 Hurt in Modesto Truck Accident on Highway 99
Modesto, California (April 7, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning truck accident that left two people injured in Modesto.
The accident occurred on Highway 99 at about 1:00 a.m. on April 6.
A truck hauling farm produces overturned on the roadway for unknown reasons. The truck was traveling in the slow lane approaching Standiford Avenue at the time, according to the officials. A few minutes later, an ambulance with two occupants, both 21-years-old, smashed into the overturned big rig in unclear circumstances.
The police said a 32-year-old woman from Salida, driving a Kia, came upon the crash and was able to stop in time, but another vehicle rear-ended her vehicle. The driver then fled from the scene.
The two parties in the ambulance were injured as a result of the crash A 52-year-old man, the truck driver, and the Kia driver were uninjured in the mishap.
Drugs or alcohol were not considered a factor in the accident.
Following the accident, the roadway was closed until 5:20 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
