Monrovia, California (April 16, 2020) – A woman and a child were struck and killed by a train on Wednesday morning in Monrovia, according to police.

As per the authorities’ reports, the mishap occurred at about 8:45 a.m., on April 15, on L Line near California Avenue north of Duarte Road.

An L.A. Metro train was heading northbound on the L Line when it struck the woman and the child on the rails. The reasons that led to the crash were yet to be established, the police said.

The child and the woman were declared dead at the scene. The child was believed to be under two years old.

Services between Monrovia and Duarte stations were stopped for a while. The passengers on the train were transported via a bus Bridge following the accident.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Monrovia Police Department at 626-256-8000.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
