2 Men Killed in Fresno Crash at Palm Avenue and Clinton Avenue Thursday afternoon

Fresno, California (April 17, 2020) – A two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two people Thursday afternoon in Fresno, according to a local news source.

As per the local news report, police officers were attempting to stop a “suspicious” vehicle with an expired registration at Belmont Avenue near Roeding Park a little before 4:30 p.m. April 16. The driver refused to stop and drove away at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle was traveling at around 100 miles per hour. Due to the high rate of speed, the officers continued to follow but did not closely pursue the vehicle for safety reasons.

Reportedly, the suspect ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a white Toyota Corolla, which was trying to make a left turn from westbound Clinton onto southbound Palm.

After the impact, the front end of the suspect’s vehicle was totaled while the driver’s side of the Corolla was crushed in.

Authorities said both drivers died at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The two drivers were the sole occupants of their respective cars, police said.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
