1 Killed in DUI Crash on Highway 280 in Cupertino
Driver Dies Following Fatal Cupertino Car Accident on Highway 280 near Wolfe Road; Anthony Lipscomb Arrested
Cupertino, California (December 14, 2019) – A driver was killed early Wednesday morning in a traffic accident involving a suspected drunk driver in Cupertino, authorities said.
The deadly accident, which was reported at around 1:17 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, happened on Highway 280, just south of Wolfe Road.
According to the authorities, the suspected, identified as Anthony Lipscomb, 22, was driving a silver Hyundai on Highway 280 when he crashed into the rear of silver Kia Soul that was heading southbound on Highway 280.
The Kia then drifted off the side of the road and slammed into a tree.
The Kia driver was ejected from the vehicle upon the impact and died at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Lipscomb was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
