Xumin Yang Hurt after Head-On Car Accident in El Dorado County

Xumin Yang Severely Hurt after Fatal El Dorado County Car Accident on Highway 50

El Dorado County, California (February 8, 2020) – Xumin Yang has been identified as the passenger injured after a two-vehicle accident on Thursday evening in El Dorado County, according to the CHP.

The crash happened at about 6:20 p.m., February 6, on Highway 50 near Pollock Pines, west of Fresh Pond.

The police said a woman identified as Jean Macke, 89, of Fair Oaks was driving a 2014 Ford Escape when she veered off from the westbound lane of Highway 50 into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming a 2013 Toyota Sienna driven by Silun Xie from Riverbank. Macke was traveling at the speed of 65 mph while turning at a curve.

Macke later died at Marshall Hospital.

Xie and their passenger Xumin Yang were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
