Woman Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on Highway 155 and Zerker Road in Delano

44-Year-Old Woman Dies in Delano Car Accident on Highway 155 and Zerker Road Wednesday morning

Delano, California (May 13, 2020) – A woman was killed Wednesday morning in a traffic accident near Delano, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash took place at about 5:30 a.m. on Highway 155 and Zerker Road.

The CHP said Reane Demery, 26, was driving westbound on Highway 155 when, for unknown reasons, his Honda Civic veered into the eastbound lanes, where it collided head-on with an oncoming Chevrolet Cruz driven by a 44-year-old woman.

After the impact, the engine from the Honda Civic was propelled into a nearby almond orchard.

The woman driving Chevrolet Cruz sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Kern Medical Hospital in Bakersfield, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name was withheld pending notification of family.

Demery was also airlifted to Kern Medical Hospital for treatment of major injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Authorities closed Highway 155 for nearly four hours following the wreck.

The accident remains under investigation.

Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
