57-Year-Old Woman Dies Following Fatal Fresno Pedestrian Accident at Shaw and Cedar Avenues
Fresno, California (January 19, 2020) – A woman died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 17 at the intersection of Shaw and Cedar avenues.
According to the CHP, the pedestrian, a 57-year-old woman, was crossing the street to Mcdonald’s to buy food for her elderly son when for an unknown reason, she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Shaw Avenue.
The impact of the crash sent the woman into the middle lane where she was hit by another vehicle.
The woman, whose name has been disclosed pending notification of family, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The driver of the first vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
Police closed Shaw Avenue next to Cedar Avenue during the investigation.
