Bicyclist Killed in Traffic Collision at Second Avenue and East 12th Street in Oakland

Oakland, California – The traffic accident that occurred on Second Avenue and East 12th Street in Oakland on Tuesday afternoon, one cyclist was killed.

A 67-year-old woman was riding southbound on Second Avenue, a few blocks from Lake Merritt when a U-Haul van hit her, the authorities stated.

On September 15, at around 12:12 pm, the accident took place.

Police stated that the van driver was making a left hand turn to East 12th Street when the accident occurred.

Following the accident, the woman was taken to the hospital as she sustained serious injuries. Later, she succumbed to her injuries.

Driving under influence is not believed to be the factor in the accident.

Meanwhile, the van driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
