Vehicle Strikes, Seriously Injures Pedestrian on Lombard in San Francisco

Pedestrian Hospitalized after San Francisco Crash at Lombard and Steiner Streets

San Francisco, California (February 16, 2020) – A pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle in the Cow Hollow neighbourhood of San Francisco Saturday night, authorities said.

The pedestrian, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lombard and Steiner Streets at around 8:27 p.m. Saturday, February 15.

Emergency crews responded to the location and found the pedestrian suffering from major injuries. The patient was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.  It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.

Lombard Street was blocked at Steiner as the investigation took place.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
