11-Year-Old Boy Killed in Antioch Pedestrian Accident on Lone Tree Way
Antioch, California (February 27, 2020) – A young boy was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking across a street in Antioch Thursday evening, a local news source reported.
At about 6:49 p.m. officers received a report of an accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 4700 block of Lone Tree Way.
According to the local news report, an 11-year-old boy was walking across Lone Tree Way in the middle of the block with his brother when he was hit by a vehicle.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The motorist was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries due to the airbag deployment.
Antioch police closed eastbound Lone Tree Way to investigate the crash.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
