Boy Killed in Palo Alto Bicycle Accident near California Avenue and El Camino Real

Palo Alto, California (March 8, 2020) – A boy riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle on Friday night in Palo Alto, according to police.

The deadly accident occurred at about 7:40 p.m., on March 6, near California Avenue and El Camino Real.

The police said the boy was riding his bicycle eastbound on California Avenue approaching El Camino while a white 2008 International flatbed truck, driven by a man in his 60’s, was also traveling eastbound.

The truck driver made a right turn to head southbound on El Camino and struck the bicyclist.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver stopped and cooperated with the police.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash, according to the police.

The roadway was reopened at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
