Sheila Heffington Among 2 Killed in Angels Camp Crash on Highway 4 near Pool Station Road
Calaveras County, California (February 19, 2020) – Sheila Heffington, 58, of Chowchilla, was among two people killed Saturday morning in a traffic accident in the Angels Camp area of Calaveras County.
The fatal two-car crash occurred on Highway 4, just east of Pool Station Road at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15.
Authorities said a 2016 Lexus RX350 driven by Haomiao Zhang, 20, of Davis, was heading eastbound on Highway 4 at an unspecified rate of speed when it veered across the double yellow lines on a curve and collided with a westbound 2019 Toyota RAV 4.
The Lexus then struck a traffic sign and overturned.
The driver of the Toyota and his passenger, Sheila Heffington, were taken to a hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Zhang and his passengers, Ao Yang, 20, Minhao Liang, 19, and Linjunche Seyache, 19, all from Davis, suffered major injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be factors in the accident.
The roadway was closed for about one hour following the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
