Shannon Jordan Hospitalized after Auburn Fatal Crash on Highway 49 near Joeger Road
Auburn, California (December 7, 2019) – 39-year-old Shannon Jordan was hospitalized after a fatal vehicle crash on Friday evening in Auburn, police said.
The crash was reported at around 5:12 p.m. December 5, on Highway 49 near South Fork Dry Creek.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1996 Lexus ES300 was heading south on Highway 49 with the right rear tire worn down to the rim, causing the sparks to shoot into the air. The Lexus then swerved into the northbound lanes near Joeger Road and hit the front of a 2019 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Shannon Jordan.
The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai to flip onto its side and the Lexus to spun into the path of a 2017 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Michelle Thompkins, 31.
The driver of the Lexus was killed in the collision, and her identity was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
Jordan was seriously injured and taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment. Thompkins was not injured.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
