Sandra Liebel ID’d as 1 of 3 Killed in Lake Isabella Car Accident on Highway 178 near Yankee Canyon Drive
Lake Isabella, California (May 14, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a head-on car accident that killed three people on Monday afternoon in Isabella Lake.
At about 2:53 p.m., on May 11, the police responded to the fatal crash on Highway 178 near Yankee Canyon Drive.
A 1998 Ford Escort, driven by Elissa Renee Pappas, 34, was traveling westbound near Yankee Canyon Drive when it entered a left-hand curve on the roadway and lost control due to an alleged high rate of speed.
The Ford entered the eastbound lane, where it collided with a 2002 Toyota Tacoma operated by Sandra Merle Liebel, 78.
Sandra Merle Liebel, 78, a passenger in the Toyota and Pappas were declared dead at the scene.
Milton Liebel was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
