42-Year-Old San Jose Man Killed in Hollister Crash on Highway 25
Hollister, California (January 4, 2020) – A 42-year-old San Jose man was killed after an alleged DUI crash on Thursday night in the area of Hollister, according to a local news source.
The collision was reported at about 9:08 p.m. Thursday, January 2, on Highway 25, just north of Bolsa Road.
As per the report, a 42-year-old San Jose man was heading southbound on a private driveway in a 2017 Ford Transit van while 34-year-old Jesus Rodriguez, 34, of Hollister, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Highway 25 at about 55 to 60 miles per hour heading towards the Ford Transit.
As the van entered Highway 25 from the private drive, the two cars crashed. The van swerved off the roadway and into a ditch.
The van driver suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the crash site. His name was not immediately released awaiting notification of family.
A 39-year-old van passenger suffered severe injuries and was transported to a hospital in San Jose for treatment.
Officials arrested Rodriguez on suspicion of DUI. He was taken to local hospital before he was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Authorities closed down the southbound lane for around three hours to give way to a clearing operation and an on-scene investigation.
An investigation is ongoing.
