Sacramento Man Hit, Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in Antelope; Andrew Lal Arrested
65-Year-Old Man Killed in Antelope Auto-Pedestrian Crash at Walerga and Elverta Roads
Antelope, California (January 20, 2020) – Authorities said a 65-year-old Sacramento man died in a Sunday morning suspected DUI pedestrian crash that also left a 25-year-old man arrested.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Walerga Road, just south of Elverta Road.
According to CHP, the Sacramento man was walking west across Walerga Road when a 1999 Toyota Corolla heading south hit him. Andrew Jogesh Lal was behind the wheel of the car.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Lal stopped after the accident to cooperate with investigators. Officers said the driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Authorities closed southbound Walerga Road as they investigated the accident. The lanes were reopened at 2:00 a.m.
