Ryan Milliner Dies in 10 Freeway Crash in Baldwin Park

Coroner Identify Boy Killed in Baldwin Park Multi-Vehicle Crash on San Bernardino (10) Freeway near Francisquito Avenue Off-Ramp as Ryan Milliner

Baldwin Park, California (May 12, 2020) – Ryan Milliner, 13, has been identified as the boy who died in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday afternoon in Baldwin Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

At around 1:40 p.m. Sunday, May 10, officers responded to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, just west of the Francisquito Avenue exit, for a report of a traffic crash involving several vehicles.

Authorities said a 2008 International DuraStar flatbed tow truck, driven by a 32-year-old Pomona man, was traveling in the No. 5 lane of the freeway when, for unknown reasons, the tow truck failed to stop for traffic in front of it and slammed into the back of a 2018 Toyota Corolla. The 2018 Toyota Corolla then slammed into the back of a 2019 Kia Niro carrying a 45-year-old Culver City man.

Due to the impact, the Kia was pushed into the back of a 2008 Honda Odyssey and a 2006 Honda CRV. The Honda CRV then rear-ended a 2000 Corolla in the number 5 lane, which then crashed into the back of the tow truck.

The tow truck also rear-ended a 2018 Nissan Murano, which was in the No. 4 lane. After the impact, the Murano crashed into a center divider wall and then collided with a 2004 Dodge Ram truck carrying two Norwalk residents.

The driver of a 2018 Lexus IS200T couldn’t stop in time and also crashed into the Murano.

Milliner, who was the right rear-seat passenger of the Murano, died at the scene of the accident.

The Murano’s driver and three other passengers suffered moderate to major injuries. A 29-year-old La Puente woman, who was driving the Toyota Corolla, sustained major blunt force trauma injuries.

The three people in the Corolla sustained major to minor injuries in the accident. One of the patients was flown to a hospital.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
