RSO Patrol Car Collides with Sedan at Monterey Avenue and Varner Road

Thousand Palms, California (December 5, 2019) – Major injuries were sustained in a car collision that happened Thursday morning involving a Riverside County Sheriff’s car, a local news source reported.

The Thousand Palms crash occurred at about 10:50 a.m. at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Varner Road.

Witnesses told authorities that the RSO vehicle was responding to a call in Thousand Palms when the accident happened. According to the witnesses, the car was northbound on Monterey Avenue with patrol lights on when it was t-boned by a golden sedan at the intersection.

At least one deputy was involved in the collision.

All parties involved were transported to local hospitals for treatment. CHP said this was a major injury collision.

Authorities closed the intersection as they worked the scene.
