Razy Tufnell Hit and Killed by Car on Highway 273 in Redding

Razy Tufnell Killed in Redding Pedestrian Accident on Highway 273 at Buenaventura Boulevard

Redding, California (May 21, 2020) – Razy Lynn Tufnell, 46, of Chico, has been identified as the woman who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Monday night in Redding.

The crash happened at about 10:17 p.m., on May 18, on Highway 273 at Buenaventura Boulevard.

According to the authorities, Tufnell was struck by a car, driven by a 25-year-old Gessica Leuschne, who was traveling northbound on the roadway.

Tufnell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leuschne was not impaired, and speed was not a factor in the mishap. She was also not intoxicated, said the police.

An investigation into the crash is underway. Anyone with information is urged to contact the RPD Traffic Division.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
