The pedestrian accident happened at around 11:40 p.m. on May 16 at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Fanuel Street.
Authorities said the pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, was running across the intersection on a red light when he was struck by a 2020 Ford Fusion that was heading westbound on Grand Avenue in the fast lane.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with broken bones, an open chest wound and ankle fractures. His name and current condition were not available.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
