Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle on 15 Freeway in Fontana

Man Killed in Fontana Pedestrian Accident on 15 Freeway near Glen Helen Parkway

Fontana, California (March 29, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night on a freeway in Fontana, according to a local news source.

The fatal pedestrian accident happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. on southbound 15 Freeway, just south of Glen Helen Parkway and the Interstate 215 interchange, the CHP report states.

A witness told the CHP officials that two victims were running on the freeway when, for unknown reasons, one of them was struck by a vehicle.

First responders arrived at the scene and found a male pedestrian lying on the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

According to the CHP report, the male driver of a gray Honda Civic that involved in the accident stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Several other motorists also stopped near the crash site and one vehicle was in a ditch.

The southbound 15 freeway near Glen Helen was closed while the authorities investigated the accident.

No other information about the accident was given.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
