The deadly crash occurred on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway at 51st Street at around 12:11 a.m. Monday, June 15.

According to the report, the man was hit by several vehicles in the southbound lane of the freeway. Details of what led up to the accident were not immediately available.

Authorities closed the freeway in both directions following the wreck. As of 2:30 a.m., the lanes were reopened.

The accident remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
