Pedestrian Struck and Seriously Injured by Vehicle at Highway 246 and Sycamore Drive in Buellton

Woman Seriously Hurt in Buellton Pedestrian Accident at Highway 246 and Sycamore Drive

Buellton, California (May 8, 2020) – According to a Santa Barbara County Fire Department report, a pedestrian accident that took place near the River View Park in Buellton Thursday night resulted in serious injuries.

As per the California Highway Patrol dispatch, a female party was struck by a vehicle while walking her dog across the intersection of Highway 246 and Sycamore Drive at about 8:20 p.m.

The woman sustained major traumatic injuries following the wreck. Medical personnel, along with Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials, rendered aid to the unidentified patient before she was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for further treatment.

Sadly, her dog died in the accident.

The motorist of the involved vehicle stopped after hitting the woman and cooperated with the investigation.

Meanwhile, Highway 246 was closed down at Riverview and Valley Dairy for several hours as investigation and clean-up took place.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
