Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Accident at Ninth Street and Ebony Avenue in Imperial Beach ID’d as Joe Weiss

Joe Weiss Struck and Killed by Vehicle at Ninth Street and Ebony Avenue in Imperial Beach

San Diego, California (January 17, 2019) – 70-year-old Joe William Weiss has been identified as the victim killed in a pedestrian accident at about 12:10 p.m. last week Friday in Imperial Beach, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision took place on January 10 on Ninth Street at Ebony Avenue.

As per the CHP report, Weiss was struck by a vehicle driven by an 84-year-old woman northbound while crossing a three-point intersection for reasons still under an active investigation.

The involved motorist stopped after the crash and cooperated with the law.

Weiss suffered serious injuries following the wreck. He later died at UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was admitted after the accident.

Meanwhile, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
