Pedestrian Dies in Legacy Park Area Crash on Interstate 805 near S 43rd Street Off-Ramp

Legacy Park Area, California (April 30, 2020) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in the Legacy Park area, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident, which was reported at about 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 805, just north of the S. 43rd Street exit.

As per the report, a suspected homeless man was struck by a Dodge Challenger while he was trying to run across the southbound lanes of the freeway.

The victim, whose name has not been disclosed pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details about the crash were immediately given.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
