Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Struck by Sheriff Deputy Vehicle in Lynwood

Pedestrian Injured in Lynwood Crash on Long Beach Boulevard

Lynwood, California (March 2, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a traffic accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle that happened Monday night in Lynwood.

Authorities responded to the 12300 block of Long Beach Boulevard after reports of a pedestrian accident that occurred at about 6:30 p.m.

As per the report, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department cruiser with one officer had its lights and sirens on while responding to an emergency call and was traveling on Long Beach Boulevard when it struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The condition of the patient at this time remained undisclosed.

The deputy was also transported to the hospital. The officer is said to be doing okay.

The northbound lanes of Long Beach Boulevard were closed during the investigation.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
