Pedestrian Hit, Seriously Injured by Car on Highway 101 in Burlingame
Burlingame Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 near Broadway
Burlingame, California (April 30, 2020) – A male pedestrian was hit and seriously injured by a car Thursday at about 8:37 a.m. on Highway 101 in Burlingame, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes just south of Broadway off-ramp.
The manner of the accident remained unknown at the time of the report.
The pedestrian sustained severe injuries in the crash. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene to transport the patient to the hospital.
Authorities said two vehicles were located at the crash scene, but only one of them was involved in the incident.
Officers are investigating whether the pedestrian was a driver of one of the vehicles.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
