San Francisco, California (February 10, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in the area of 19th Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard in Ingleside Heights early Sunday morning, according to police.

At about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, February 9, the officers received a report regarding the pedestrian accident at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard.

Police said the man was in the area when he was hit by a red Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on 19th Avenue.

The man was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Prius driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
