Pedestrian Killed in San Bernardino Crash on 215 Freeway near 27th Street
San Bernardino, California (May 5, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a freeway in San Bernardino Friday night, a local news source reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man was walking across the northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway north of 27th Street at about 8:45 p.m. May 1 when a white Ford Crown Victoria hit him.
The man died at the scene of the accident. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The male driver of the Crown Victoria remained at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.
The accident remains under investigation.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
