Pedestrian Dies after Being Struck by Two Vehicles on Claus Road in Modesto

Pedestrian Killed in Modesto Crash on Claus Road at Milnes Road Thursday night

Modesto, California (April 3, 2020) – A woman in her mid-20s died after getting struck by two vehicles in Modesto Thursday night, authorities said.

According to the authorities, the woman believed to be a transient was crossing Claus Road at Milnes Road when a vehicle traveling in the northbound lane hit her. The force impact threw her into the southbound lane, where she was struck by another car.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of family, but authorities said the woman had an identification out of Los Angeles.

The two drivers stopped at the scene and were cooperative, authorities said. Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
