Fullerton, California (March 24, 2020) – A male pedestrian was struck and critically injured by a vehicle in the area of Commonwealth and Pomona avenues in Fullerton Monday night, a local news source reported.
Authorities said the man, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was in the middle of the street and outside of a marked crosswalk when a vehicle hit him about 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 23.
Medical personnel responded to the scene and found the man suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Investigators said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
