Off-Duty Officer Nathan Martin Killed in Oxnard Crash near Third Street and Campton Drive
Oxnard, California (January 30, 2020) – 45-year-old Officer Nathan Martin died when he collided with a truck while riding on his motorcycle Wednesday afternoon in Oxnard, authorities said.
The 20-year-old veteran of the Oxnard Police Department was riding home after work when he collided with the semi at about 4:00 p.m. near Third Street and Campton Drive.
OPD officers responded to the scene to find Martin with life-threatening injuries.
The officer was rushed to a hospital where he was, sadly, pronounced dead.
An initial investigation revealed that the semi made a left turn in front of him and collided with the motorcycle.
Before the deadly crash, the officer left Hueneme High School, where he has been working as a school resource officer, went to the station, and then left for home on his personal motorcycle.
Martin is survived by his wife and three children. He also has a brother who is an officer.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
