Nicholas Butler Struck and Killed by Train on 2rd Street and E Street County in Stanislaus in Empire

27-Year-Old Nicholas Butler Dies in Empire Train Crash on 2rd Street and E Street 

Stanislaus County, California (December 11, 2019) – 27-year-old Nicholas Butler has been identified as the bicyclist struck and killed by a train on Tuesday morning in Empire, according to a police report.

The fatal crash was reported at around 8:00 a.m. December 10, on 2rd Street and E street.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office said Butler was riding a bicycle eastbound on 2rd Street when he went around the downed crossing arm and a strain when an Amtrak train struck him.

Butler was killed in the collision.

The train stopped at the scene as the investigations were ongoing.

The collision is still under investigation.
