According to a local news source, the female party was hit by a late model Hyundai in a shopping center parking lot near the intersection of Lyons and Peachland avenues at approximately 7:55 a.m.

The initial report indicated that the driver was searching for a parking space at the time of the crash.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
