Murray Roseberry Hit and Killed by Car on Highway 273 in Redding

Murray Roseberry ID’d as Man Killed in Redding Pedestrian Accident on Highway 273 at Breslauer Way; Steward Helmer Arrested

Redding, California (June 20, 2020) – Murray Ronald Roseberry, 61, of Redding, has been identified as the man who was killed in an alleged DUI crash on Wednesday night in Redding, according to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred at around 10:50 p.m., on June 17, on Highway 273 near Breslauer Way.

Steward Helmer, 63, of Anderson, was driving an SUV pulling a boat southbound on Highway 273 in the right lane when he saw Roseberry walking near the west fog line and swerved to avoid hitting him, according to the police.

Unfortunately, the boat reportedly struck Roseberry.

Roseberry was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

As per the police report, Helmer stopped and called 911. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and booked into the Shasta County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
