Motorcyclist Killed after Rear-Ending Semi-Truck on 5 Freeway in Bakersfield

Rider Killed in 5 Freeway Accident near Grapevine Road in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California (May 3, 2020)A rear-end collision claimed the life of a motorcyclist Saturday evening in Bakersfield, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to the CHP, a semi-truck was traveling in the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 south of Grapevine Road at around 6:51 p.m. May 2, when the motorcyclist rear-ended it.

The rider, whose name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin, was killed in the crash.

The accident caused the closure of all lanes of Interstate 5.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
