Man Dies, Child Hospitalized after San Joaquin County DUI Crash on Highway 4 near Tracy Boulevard

San Joaquin County, California (February 15, 2020) – A man was killed and a boy was injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in San Joaquin County, authorities said.

The fatal crash occurred on Highway 4 near Tracy Boulevard at around 8:00 a.m. Friday, February 14.

According to California Highway Patrol, Mauricio Solorio Garcia, 54, was driving a tractor-trailer westbound on Highway 4 when he drifted across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 35-year-old man.

The tractor-trailer then sideswiped a minivan. Authorities said the SUV and the minivan were traveling together when the collision happened.

The driver of the SUV was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

An 11-year-old boy, who was riding as a passenger in the SUV, was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries.

All occupants of the minivan, a man and three children, were uninjured.

Garcia was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
