Fatal Modesto Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 near Hammett Road
Modesto, California (February 15, 2020) – A traffic collision involving a big rig on Friday morning along Highway 99 just south of Hammett Road in Modesto resulted in the death of a 42-year-old male party, according to the California Highway Patrol.
As per the report, the accident began when the male party was in a van parked along the east shoulder of the highway. The victim then exited his vehicle and entered the northbound lanes where he was hit by a big northbound rig driven by Jatinder Singh, 41, of Ferndale, Washington, shortly before 9 a.m. February 14.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released to this time.
Singh stopped after the crash and cooperated with the investigation.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors in the crash.
The investigation is underway.
