85-Year-Old San Diego Man Killed, 2 Injured in Valley Center Head-On Crash on Valley Center Road near Waa’ash Road

Valley Center, California (March 5, 2020) – A head-on collision in Valley Center killed an 85-year-old San Deigo man Tuesday night and a left two other people injured, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly three-car accident happened on Valley Center Road, about a mile south of Waa’ash Road shortly before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3.

According to the CHP report, a Ford Ranger was heading northbound in a left bend on Valley Center Road when it veered across the double yellow lines and into the opposite lane. The Ranger sideswiped a Chevrolet Tahoe and then collided head-on with Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver of the Ranger was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Vista man driving the Silverado suffered minor injuries and his passenger, an 89-year-old woman, was taken to Palomar Medical Center in unknown condition.

The driver of the Tahoe, an Escondido woman, was not uninjured.

Valley Center Road was blocked for nearly three hours as the investigation and cleanup took place.
