The pedestrian accident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, in the 4800 block of College Avenue.

The man reportedly fell into the roadway and was lying in the number 1 lane of College Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

The man was then struck by another vehicle. That driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident. His name and condition were not immediately disclosed.

Police determined that the second driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident and was not arrested.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
