According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of Long Beach (710) Freeway near Alondra Boulevard.

Authorities closed all southbound lanes of the freeway to investigate the accident. Motorists were being diverted at Alondra Boulevard.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
