Family Members Escape Major Injuries in Escondido Car Accident on Interstate 15 near Via Rancho Parkway

Escondido, California (December 15, 2019) – A man and his three children were hospitalized with minor injuries after they escaped from a burning vehicle on Saturday night in Escondido, police said.

The accident occurred before midnight, December 14, on northbound Interstate 15 near the off-ramp to Via Rancho Parkway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a car rear-ended a van and pushed it to the right shoulder. The van, which had the father and three children, burst into flames.

The family sustained minor injuries after escaping from the burning van.

A 21-year-old Hispanic male, the driver of the car, was said to be driving under the influence.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

The crash is still under investigation.
