Male Pedestrian Hit by Car, Seriously Injured on I-605 in Irwindale

Irwindale Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 605 near Live Oak Avenue

Irwindale, California (May 1, 2020) – A male pedestrian was seriously hurt when he was struck by a car Friday at about 12:13 a.m. on Interstate 605 in Irwindale, authorities said.

According to a California Highway Patrol log, the auto-pedestrian crash happened just south of Live Oak Avenue.

A party reporting the accident said a male pedestrian was running across the freeway when he was hit by a black Nissan.

First responders found the victim and the car in the center divider.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the crash. An ambulance responded to the scene and took the victim to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
